freedom
internet and anonymity
the internet, which enables people from all over the world to access each other and information equally and at minimal cost, offers us a free world without geographical and political borders. although states and institutions claim otherwise, it ensures that this freedom can be experienced safely by providing anonymity, privacy and personal security.
returning to the mission of the internet in its early years, one can safely socialize while preserving anonymity and privacy, unhindered by malicious users, identity thieves, stalkers, commercial institutions and government surveillance policies.
the internet also allows sociological field research of any kind, which requires considerable effort and cost, to be conducted at less cost, over a longer period of time and on a much larger scale, while anonymity can enable more participants to take part in an online study safely and carefree, and to provide more accurate answers, because anonymity removes social and anatomical boundaries, allowing a person to exist in real life as his or her true self without being harmed.
the internet is the most efficient way to reach people, and anonymity is the only way to make it safe.
